Yorkville has a way of making a short walk feel like a stage set, and Holiday Magic is when it puts the lights on.
The Bloor-Yorkville BIA lists the Official Lighting Ceremony for Saturday, November 21, 2026, at the Village of Yorkville Park, at Cumberland Street and Bellair Street. It is a free event. The ceremony features Canadian jazz artist Molly Johnson, with the Rosedale Day School Choir as special guests. The BIA says the event includes a headline performance and a “flick-the-switch” countdown that lights up the park and Bloor Street.
Here is our route for the evening and the weeks after. The BIA says the lights run through December 31, so you have time.
Stop 1: Village of Yorkville Park
Start where the switch gets flipped. The BIA says the Village of Yorkville Park will light up on November 21. It hosts the Holiday Magic Tree Lighting in November.
For photographers, the park has texture in every direction. The BIA describes an urban forest of pine, birch, alder, crabapple and maples, with herb rock garden, marshy wetland and crisscross boardwalks. It adds a 650-ton rock transplanted from the Canadian Shield, and a stainless steel water curtain that becomes a sculpture of icicles in winter. Our tip: shoot the rock with the lights behind it.
Stop 2: the trees along Bloor Street
Walk south to Bloor. The BIA says the trees along Bloor Street will be lit for the season. A slow stroll along the sidewalk, looking up, is the move.
Stop 3: Urban Campfire Benches
Along Bloor Street West, between Church Street and Avenue Road, sit the Urban Campfire Benches. The BIA says they are permanent fixtures, 60 benches resembling campfires that light up when in use. They make a warm foreground for a night photo.
Stop 4: Candy Cane Carolers
The Candy Cane Carolers stroll and sing throughout Bloor-Yorkville in December. The BIA lists them for December 4 to 6, 11 to 13, 18 to 20, and December 22 and 23. They sing acapella, with more than 60 holiday songs to choose from.
Stop 5: Fleurs de Villes JOYEUX
From December 2 to 6, the BIA lists floral pop-ups including fresh floral mannequins and holiday displays, creating a festive floral stroll through Bloor-Yorkville. It is a good second visit once the lights have been admired.
When is the best time to go?
For the big moment, the ceremony on November 21. For a quieter walk, any evening after that through December 31. The carolers are listed on selected dates through December 23, and the floral stroll is a short window in early December. Our pick: go once for the countdown, then again on a calm weeknight with a hot drink and a camera. Dress warmly, give yourself time at each stop, and let the walk set the pace.
