The BIA directory lists Mildred’s Temple Kitchen at 85 Hanna Avenue. Its Instagram bio points you to its pancakes and says you can cook them at home too. Our pick for a lunch that feels like a weekend.

Liberty Village Restaurants in Toronto: Lunch by Street
Ten Liberty Village lunch stops grouped by street, from pancakes on Hanna to pasta on Liberty Street, each checked on Instagram in October.

The lunch hour in Liberty Village is short, so the best lunch is the one you can reach on foot and still enjoy.
What is Liberty Village, and where do you eat?
The City places the Liberty Village BIA south of King Street West to the railway line. The district has an industrial past: the BIA’s history says John Inglis and Company set up a factory for heavy machinery, boilers and later electrical appliances in 1884, and today the Toronto Carpet Factory is home to numerous businesses, restaurants and cafés. The BIA also runs an online directory that tags businesses by industry, including Food & Beverage.
We list a place only when its own Instagram has been active in October and the BIA directory lists it. We have grouped the ten stops by street rather than by ranking, so you can pick a short walk and eat well at the end of it. Why by street? Because in a district built around old factories, the shortest route to lunch is usually the one you can name. Tell a colleague you are on Liberty Street or at the Carpet Factory end of King West, and they can find you. For the wider city, our best restaurants in Toronto guide is the place to start.
Where can you eat on Hanna and Pardee Avenues?
Brodflour is listed at 8 Pardee Avenue. Its website says it sources, mills and bakes with grain that is fresh, wholesome and alive, and calls itself an urban mill and bakery in downtown Toronto. Its Instagram bio describes an urban mill, bakery and café milling Canadian grains. A good place to see what a working urban mill can do.
What is on Liberty Street?
The directory lists Merci Mon Ami at 107 East Liberty Street. Its Instagram bio calls it your local neighbourhood bistro since 2008, in the Liberty Village Market Building. A tidy pick when you want a proper sit-down lunch.
Thindi Cafe is listed at 153 Liberty Street in the directory. Its Instagram bio says Simple. Soul. Food. and lists 153 E Liberty St. A short, friendly stop for a quick lunch.
The directory lists Brazen Head Irish Pub at 165 East Liberty Street. Its Instagram bio calls it your home for every game in Liberty Village. A pub lunch with the game on is an easy way to turn a workday into an occasion.
Sundays Pasta Lab is listed at 171 Liberty Street. Its Instagram bio says fresh pasta with fresh ingredients and lists 171 East Liberty. Our pick when lunch needs to be a bowl of something warm.
What about Jefferson and Fraser Avenues?
The directory lists Mad Batter Bakers at 135 Jefferson Avenue. Its Instagram bio calls it a family-owned bakery, established 1995, in Liberty Village, and its website says it has been making cookie creations for over 30 years. Lunch can end with a cookie; we will not tell.
SCHOOL is listed at 70 Fraser Avenue. Its Instagram bio promises detention-worthy brunch and lunch, with gluten-free and vegan options and a dog-friendly patio. Our pick for a lunch with a sense of humour.
Where do you eat on the King West edge?
The directory lists Caffino Ristorante at 1185 King Street West. Its Instagram bio says it has been in Liberty Village since 1996, with a classic Italian menu and two patios. A comfortable pick for a sit-down lunch with colleagues.
Louie Craft Coffee Shop is listed at 1187 King Street West. Its Instagram bio calls it an artisanal coffee shop inside the Toronto Carpet Factory. The right finish to a lunch walk, or the start of one.
What are three easy lunch plans?
The quick lunch. When the hour is tight, choose from the Liberty Street group. Thindi Cafe and Sundays Pasta Lab suit a short break, and Merci Mon Ami is there when the break turns into a proper sit-down. Order, eat, and be back at your desk with time to spare.
The sit-down with colleagues. Pick SCHOOL or Caffino and make an occasion of it. A shared table and a patio when the weather allows turn a Tuesday into something worth talking about afterwards. Check each place’s own page for how it takes bookings.
The sweet finish. Finish with a coffee at Louie Craft Coffee Shop, or take a cookie from Mad Batter Bakers on the walk back. Brodflour is the stop for anyone who likes to see where their bread comes from.
How do you plan a Liberty Village lunch?
Pick a street and stay on it. If the group is hungry and in a hurry, choose the stops that sit closest to your door and share a table. If the day is open, pair a sit-down lunch with a coffee on the King West edge. Between the two, there is room for a good conversation, a slow walk past the old brick and a bit of sun on the way back. A lunch that gets you out of the building is worth the extra five minutes of planning. Reading about the neighbourhood itself? Our Liberty Village neighbourhood page tells the longer story, and our cheap eats in Toronto list is handy when the budget is short.
