Little Italy Toronto Restaurants: A College Street Evening

An aperitivo, a dinner and a last stop on College Street, built from five restaurants that were active on their own Instagram when we checked in October.

A good College Street evening has a shape: a drink to start, a table that makes the night, and a last stop where nobody is checking the clock.

Where is Little Italy on College Street?

The City describes the Little Italy BIA as running along College Street from Bathurst Street to Shaw Street. That is the stretch this guide covers, and it is made for a slow walk with a plan. We built this guide course by course, the way a long dinner unfolds, and linked each stop to its own pages.

Why does a College Street night work?

Some streets are for getting somewhere. College Street, in the evening, is for being somewhere. The strip is built for a walk between courses, and the hours between a first drink and a last one pass quickly when each stop has its own mood. You can plan it tightly or follow your appetite, and the evening still holds together. That flexibility is why we think of it as a night out rather than a single reservation, and why we have arranged the stops as courses instead of a ranking.

How did we choose the stops?

We name a place only when its own Instagram has posted within the past 90 days and a 2026 MICHELIN Guide page lists it. That keeps the list short, and it means every stop is one we can point to with confidence. If we could not confirm a place when we checked in October, we left it out rather than guess. Where do you start? Course one: the aperitivo

Bar Allegro

Bar Allegro’s Instagram bio describes a bar aperitivo at 597 College Street. It also calls the bar the sister bar of Bar Pompette. Our pick for the first stop: a drink and something small is the pause that sets the pace for everything after it.

What should dinner be? Course two

Three very different dinners sit within a College Street evening, so choose by mood.

DaNico

DaNico lists its address as 440 College Street. Its Instagram bio describes it as Michelin star fine dining. Save it for the night that deserves a celebration, a birthday or a promotion, and check its own site for reservations.

Quetzal

Quetzal lists its address as 419 College Street. Its Instagram bio says the cooking is inspired by the diverse flavours and customs of Mexico, all cooked over a 28ft wood fire. If you like a kitchen with a fire at its centre, this is the one to pick.

Conejo Negro’s Instagram bio gives 838 College Street and describes Caribbean, Creole and Latin American inspired fare. It is the relaxed pick of the three, and a good one when the group wants big flavours and a lively table.

Where do you finish? Course three: the last stop

Bar Raval

Bar Raval’s own website gives its address as 505 College Street, and has food and drinks sections. The room is the draw, so let it surprise you. Check the site for how it handles seating before you go.

What are three evenings to steal?

The celebration. Meet for an aperitivo at Bar Allegro, move on to DaNico for the long dinner, and end the night at Bar Raval for one more glass. This is the evening for an anniversary, a promotion or a visiting friend you want to impress. Settle on dinner first and build the rest around it.

The big flavours night. Start with a drink at Bar Allegro, then go to Quetzal or Conejo Negro with a group that likes to share. Order for the middle of the table, taste everything, and let the conversation decide the pace. Finish with a walk along College Street, which is half the point of a Little Italy night.

The grazer’s loop. Skip the formal dinner and make a loop of the aperitivo and the late stop, with a few small plates at each. It is a lighter way to cover the strip, it suits a weeknight, and it leaves room for a second round of whatever the first round got you talking about.

What should you wear for a November walk?

This guide goes out in the cold months, and a College Street evening in November asks for a coat you do not mind wearing between stops. Plan your route so that the farthest leg comes early, while everyone is fresh, and the shortest leg comes at the end, when the night has settled in. Check each place’s own page for any seasonal changes before you set out, and bring a friend who enjoys the walk as much as the table.

What is the simplest plan for the night?

Meet early for the aperitivo, then walk to dinner. Keep the pace unhurried and the group small, because a College Street evening works best at a table for four rather than a table for twelve. Dinner at DaNico or Quetzal is the formal path, and Conejo Negro is the lively one. End at Bar Raval for a last glass and a long look at the room.

If you are going with someone you want to impress, put the aperitivo at the front and the room at the end, and let dinner carry the middle. If you are going with friends who like to graze, skip the big dinner and make a loop of the aperitivo and the late stop. Either way, check each place’s own page for reservations and arrive hungry. For a stage-and-supper evening in other parts of town, see our pre-theatre dinner guide, and for the area itself, our Trinity Bellwoods page tells the story of the streets around the strip.
